Moments can last forever...

first attempts...

It is finally here, my Canon EOS 50D ! And lucky me I got 2 lenses for christmas :

- the first one is the EF-S 18-55mm, f/3.5-5.6 IS, quite a basic one, to do pretty much everything and nothing, to play around and take parties and holidays pics,

- and a EF-75-300mm, f/4-5.6 III USM, which is a lens as good for portraits as for zoomed pics. Used for portrait, it allows you to benefit from a great bokeh. Used as a zoom, you might want to use a tripod as your pics would be blurred at the move of an eyelash ! But still, it does a good job if you don't have a tripod and do not zoom up to 300mm.

But enough with my unperfect reviews (click here and here for good ones), let's have a look at my first attempts. I added new categories as pictures came along on my Flickr account : "Animals" (for pics of animals, all animals, all types...), "Macro" (for Macro photography, even though I don't have a "real" macro lens yet but I borrowed my father's few weeks ago ^^) and "It's happening inside" (for pics of pretty much everything that can be found in-doors). This will help me organise a little bit my photos and, hopefully, help you to navigate through my portfolio by selecting the category you like at the top of the banner.

The first pic I am going to display belongs to one of the new sets : It's happening inside...

Canon EOS 50D, f/5.0, 0.5 sec, 41mm, ISO 100

For this picture of fire (shut up !), I used the EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens with a "long" exposure (1/2s) which allowed me to get few spark trails. Really like the result for a first attempt ! Note that this pic has been cropped at almost 100% the scale of the original (here). Just click on the picture or here to enjoy more pics from this set.

  Let's continue with a picture from Architecture/Design :

Canon EOS 50D, f/5.0, 1/60 sec, 220mm, ISO 400

I took this design pic with the EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 USM lens, which allowed me to have this nice bokeh, and look how blur look the background although the sea shells were very close to it ! That's how amazing this lens is and why I think it's a perfect lens for portraits. Just click on the picture or here to enjoy more pics from this set.

And finally, let's take a walk outside and appreciate a Landscape pic :

Canon EOS 50D, f/7.1, 1/250 sec, 110mm, ISO 100

This is picture of Izaut de l'Hôtel, a village in the Pyrénées, south of France. I obviously used the EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 USM lens for this one but didn't have a tripod yet (but this is now fixed ! yay) which is why the picture looks a bit blur. What I really like about this picture and what makes it special, according to me, is the smoky atmosphere, which is a cliché but it's working everytime ! Click on the picture or here to enjoy more picss from this set.

So this is it, my first pics with my new camera. I still have a long way to go and I can't wait for it
Please, feel free to leave a comment or a critic, good or bad, that's all I'm asking for ! :)

Thank you for your time and see you around.
